Community Partnership Spurs Economic Development — Receives National Award

Catawba County, North Carolina was granted the 2021 Community Partnership Award: 50,000 and Greater Population, by the International City / County Management Association (ICMA). To those who call Catawba County home, this award represents the years of hard work that have gone into restoring the County following the economic recession of the 2000s. The efforts that led to this acknowledgement were due to a combination of citizen involvement, collaboration of County and City of Hickory leaders, and resoluteness of local businesses.

Trivium Corporate Center

Trivium corporate center community partnership for economic developmentHere at McGill, we are driven by the successes of the communities that we live and work in, and we are proud to have one of our eight offices located in Hickory — the largest municipality in Catawba County. McGill had the pleasure to assist with the development of the Trivium Corporate Center, a 270-acre business park, that is marketed by the Economic Development Committee, as being ideal for corporate headquarters. Since 2018, the business park has drawn $376 million in investment and reached over 770 jobs with Corning Incorporated announcing a $150 million expansion in September of 2021.

McGill was contracted to assist the City of Hickory in the development of Trivium Corporate Center by providing full-service survey, design, permitting, bidding, construction administration, and observation services for the entrance drive to the Trivium Business Park from Startown Road to the first site to be occupied. The services included grading, erosion control, stormwater, roadway, water line, sewer line, electrical, landscaping, and irrigation.

Catawba County and the City of Hickory

In addition to our contribution to the Trivium Corporate Center, McGill frequently provides engineering services to Catawba County and the City of Hickory, in water / wastewater engineering, electrical engineering, land planning and recreation, surveying and construction, consulting, etc., and we look forward to seeing the region thrive for years to come.
