McGill’s Young Professionals Group Puts on Spring Event

On June 18th, McGill’s young professionals Group hosted its first event at Bakers Mountain Park in Hickory. After everyone played a few rounds of cornhole and board games, had their fill of delicious food, and quality time together — the day was capped off with a nature-themed scavenger hunt in the park.

While all of the scavenger hunt teams had a great time exploring the park and working together to decipher the clues, the first-place winners received two tickets to their choice of Dollywood, Biltmore House, or Carowinds, and the second-place winners were given Amazon gift cards.

McGill Planner Kurtis Durrant gave a presentation to the group about the history of McGill’s involvement with Bakers Mountain Park. Bakers Mountain Park is located at the highest point in Catawba County and was designed by Mike Norris, McGill’s Director of Land Planning and Recreation. Kurtis spoke to the group about the park’s unique design and the importance of creating spaces that make people want to get outside and stay active.

Kailey Bevins, McGill’s Recruiting and Engagement Coordinator, said, “We were really happy with the turnout! It was great to get everyone together and connected to one another. We hope to have more events like this one and others in the future!”
