McGill Welcomes Mike Waresak to Lead Western North Carolina Water and Wastewater Team

Mike Waresak is Back

Mike WaresakMcGill is pleased to welcome back a familiar face—Mike Waresak. He is a Senior Project Manager in our Asheville office. Bringing more than 30 years of engineering experience, Mike will lead the water and wastewater team serving the Western North Carolina region.

Mike is no stranger to McGill. Before relocating to Colorado to be closer to his family, he spent 20 years with the firm. His return brings valuable leadership and technical expertise to our growing team, and it reflects his deep commitment to the communities of this region.

Mike’s Inspiration and History with McGill

Engineering has long been a passion for Mike. Inspired by his father, a builder, Mike pursued a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Central Florida. Early in his career, a project on a wastewater treatment plant for the City of Orlando ignited a lasting interest in water and wastewater systems. He has focused on this area ever since.

During his previous tenure with McGill, Mike advanced from Project Engineer to Senior Engineer, working on an array of water and wastewater planning and design projects. These included system evaluations, regulatory compliance, and complex treatment plant designs. He is a licensed professional engineer in North Carolina, New Mexico, California, and Colorado.

Returning to Help WNC Communities After Helene

Tropical Storm Helene played an unexpected role in Mike’s decision to return to Western North Carolina, because he is motivated by a desire to assist in the region’s recovery. Mike brings technical skills and longstanding relationships with local municipalities to his new leadership role. His familiarity with the area’s unique terrain and infrastructure needs positions him to make an immediate impact.

Mike shared that he is focused on recovery efforts and long-term improvements. “To me, ‘Shaping Communities Together’ means enhancing quality of life and helping communities grow economically by expanding and improving their water and wastewater systems,” he said.

Mike is the “Real Deal”

Mark Cathey, Asheville Office Manager, shares, “Mike is a solid engineer, and even more, he is a solid person. He knows exactly what our clients need from him, and they (and we) love him for it. He knows how to laugh and joke, but also when to roll up his sleeves and get the job done. He’s the real deal. He told me we’re a better company than when he left for Colorado. Well, with him back—we just got even better!”

We are excited to have Mike back on McGill team and look forward to the positive contributions he will make for our clients and communities.
