MEET NANCY WHITMAN

Nancy Whitman is one of those great leaders, and we are lucky to have her on our team. As Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Nancy is responsible for the overall financial management of the firm. She has more than 30 years of experience — 26 of those years with McGill — and she is an essential strategic advisor.

CFO RESPONSIBILITIES

Nancy is data driven and has a high level of business intelligence, which are crucial skills in a role with such a wide array of components. “My current role includes cash management, cash flow management, financial and tax reporting, planning and analysis, shareholder and corporate financial strategies, as well as risk analysis and internal control,” explained Nancy.

THE REWARDING NATURE OF FINANCIAL WORK

“One of my favorite things about what I get to do is providing critical information on project, office, practice area, and overall firm financial results,” said Nancy.

Under her leadership and guidance, McGill has established a robust financial record and increased its capacity to do business. “Over the years, we have been able to expand both our geographic footprint as well as add service lines, such as surveying, land planning, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP). So having a robust financial record gives us the resources to take advantage of opportunities and plan for strategic growth.”

Nancy said that analyzing data is “kind of like a puzzle, and it is nice getting to the end and analyzing your accomplishments, seeing what your profit was at the end of the day, and if you met important strategic goals during that time as well — not all of which are profit driven.”

HELPING OUR EMPLOYEES, HELPS OUR CLIENTS

When we are thriving financially, we are better equipped in every aspect of business and, in turn, can not only provide an elevated level of service to our clients but also offer the best to our employees. Nancy said, “Being able to take care of our employees at McGill is part of having a robust financial position. It allows us to offer good benefits, which in turn helps us to retain and hire the best and brightest in the world of engineering so that we can do great work for our clients.”
