Stinger Park Baseball in Full Swing

Opening weekend of Stinger Park hit a home run hosting the 2023 North Carolina Dixie Youth Baseball AA D2 State Tournament on June 30-July 6. Town Creek took home the tournament win out of twelve teams, ages 7 and 8, in the coach pitch division. The City of Bessemer City estimates approximately 6,000 people attended the tournament. The North Carolina Dixie Youth State Director, Roy West stated, “the facility and tournament was the best I have ever worked or been associated with.”

McGill was honored to support Bessemer City in bringing its vision of an all-ages community athletic facility and park forward by providing planning, design, funding, and construction support for the project. Stinger Park will spur economic activity in the region to become a premier destination for youth sports in the Southeast.

Stinger Park Baseball / Softball Amenities

Stinger Park has a mix of recreational opportunities to meet the needs of the entire family, including a widespan of interests for all ages. The park includes three baseball / softball fields, with amenities including batting cages, announcer buildings, and multiple seating opportunities.

Other Amenities

In addition, it has one tennis court, two soccer fields, two playgrounds, six pickleball courts, and a splash pad. Stinger Park also includes top-notch facilities, including a concession building, restrooms, a picnic shelter, parking, and a maintenance building that all increase the user-friendliness of the park.

One of the amenities the park utilizes is the latest in integrated video and LED technology to enhance the player and spectator experience, attracting regional and national leagues. McGill provided the electrical distribution design for the park, including the layouts for the fields and coordination between all trades involved in the design of the park.

The mission of Stinger Park is, “a life-enhancing experience that allows all socio-economic communities to swarm together through health, wellness, and cultural elements that ultimately improve quality of life for the community and betters the environment for building a colony of success in Bessemer City.” Opening weekend brought this mission to life.
