McGill Welcomes Lane Bailey as Client Services Consultant

McGill is pleased to announce that Lane Bailey has joined the firm as a Client Services Consultant. Lane will support recruiting efforts for key positions across the company while helping strengthen client relationships throughout McGill’s service areas.Lane Bailey TEMP

Lane brings more than three decades of local government leadership experience to McGill. Throughout his career, he has built a reputation as a trusted leader, mentor, and advocate for local government, helping communities navigate complex challenges while fostering strong organizational cultures. He is passionate about public service, and the positive impact local governments have on improving the lives of citizens and strengthening communities.

Most recently, Lane has served as Interim Town Manager for the Town of Blowing Rock, providing leadership during a period of organizational transition. Prior to that, he served as Senior Vice President with GovHR/MGT, one of the nation’s leading local government executive recruitment and consulting firms, where he helped communities across the country identify, recruit, and develop top local government talent.

Lane’s career includes serving as City Manager for the City of Salisbury, City of Lenoir, and City of King, as well as County Manager for Polk County. During his tenure, he led major infrastructure investments, economic development initiatives, strategic planning efforts, and organizational improvement programs that strengthened the communities he served. His accomplishments include helping recruit transformational economic development projects, implementing innovative customer service initiatives, developing long-range capital improvement plans, and advancing critical public infrastructure projects that improved quality of life for residents and businesses alike.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Lane has devoted time to advancing the local government profession and mentoring future leaders. He is a past President of the North Carolina City and County Management Association and served as Southeast Regional Vice President for the International City/County Management Association (ICMA). He has mentored numerous emerging local government professionals throughout his career and remains a strong advocate for leadership development and professional excellence.

His contributions to the profession have been recognized through numerous honors, including the North Carolina Society of Certified Managers Public Manager of the Year Award, the James D. Prosser Excellence in Government Leadership Award, and the John Whitehurst Service Award for his dedication to local government management and leadership.
