23rd Annual Spring Bass Fishing Tournament Was One for the Books

On April 17, McGill hosted its 23rd Annual Spring Bass Fishing Tournament at Lake Rhodhiss. A total of 26 boats with 52 anglers enjoyed a full day of fishing, starting at 8:00 AM and wrapping up at 4:00 PM.

Rick Bradford and Scott Loftis, representing the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC), took home the first-place prize of $500. Alex Lowdermilk, representing McGill, earned the prize for largest largemouth bass with a catch weighing 3.85 pounds. He also caught the largest non-bass fish, weighing 0.2 pounds. Alex’s teammate had to cancel at the last minute due to a family emergency, so he braved the lake solo in his kayak.
