McGill Reflects on a Successful 2024

As 2024 comes to a close, McGill celebrates a year filled with community impact and professional milestones. From exciting project launches to staff achievements, this year has been nothing short of extraordinary. Here’s a look back at some of our highlights from each month of the year:

We kicked off the year by commemorating McGill’s 40th anniversary. Since 1984, we have grown from a small firm to a regional leader, serving communities across the Southeast. This milestone was a testament to the trust and collaboration we’ve shared with our clients and partners over the years.

February

In February, McGill had the pleasure of attending the North Carolina City County Management Association (NCCCMA) Winter Seminar in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. As a gold sponsor, we were proud to have the opportunity to host a booth and interact with our clients. Throughout the event, we had a great time networking, learning, and showcasing our expertise.

March

March was dedicated to recognizing the essential work of our surveying team during National Surveyors’ Week. Using advanced technology such as LiDAR and GNSS, our surveyors laid the foundation for numerous successful projects this year.

April

McGill Fishing TournamentIn April, 30 anglers on 15 boats headed out on Lake Rhodhiss for McGill’s 21st annual Spring Bass Tournament. It was a beautiful day for some friendly competition among friends and colleagues. This tournament provided an excellent opportunity for McGill staff and our friends to get together and enjoy the water and lovely spring weather. McGill values building strong relationships with our colleagues and peers, and we look forward to continuing this tradition for many years to come.

May

In May, McGill highlighted our commitment to sustainable site development strategies in environmental engineering. Our in-house environmental team focuses on implementing green infrastructure — such as permeable pavements, green roofs, rain gardens, and bioswales — to manage stormwater, reduce runoff, and enhance site aesthetics.

This month we also had a 40th anniversary celebration for our employees and their families. The day consisted of fun outdoor games, delicious food, and quality time away from work with our colleagues

We outlined several strategies for students to maximize their career fair experience and shared that in an article on our website and social media platforms.

September:

IMG 4403In September, McGill highlighted our partnership with the Town of Highlands, North Carolina, to launch the “Save Mirror Lake” initiative, aiming to restore the lake’s ecological balance and preserve it for future recreational use. October:

In October, McGill and local officials broke ground on the expansion of Siler City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant. This pivotal project was aimed at enhancing infrastructure to support the town’s residential and industrial growth.
