McGill Spotlights

Canned Good Photo Competition Lifts Holiday Spirits

Each year, McGill offices compete to take the best and most creative holiday photo. We made a few changes this year, due to COVID-19, and decided to focus on food drives in each area. Last year, the Hickory office stole the show through its Hee-Haw-themed group photo. We upped the ante this year by providing strict guidelines to keep safety measures in place and incorporating food drives for local charities. This year, the Asheville office took home the coveted gnome prize with its creative photo showing Santa taking the gnome’s temperature to ensure he was able to fly to Asheville for Christmas. Food donations were made to the following charities: Western Carolina Rescue Mission, Hunger and Health Coalition, Eastern Catawba Cooperative Christian Ministry, Hickory Soup Kitchen, Vass Food Pantry, Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, and Matthew’s Ministry. Even though Asheville won the prize, everyone is a winner this year by helping those in need.

Zach Roman, PE, Project Engineer

Zach Roman Earns his PE License in South Carolina

Zach Roman, Project Engineer in our Shallotte office, recently earned his professional engineering license in South Carolina, in addition to his North Carolina registration. He explained what it has been like working at McGill: “Since starting my career at McGill, there have been numerous opportunities for growth. Starting as an engineering associate, I was afforded the ability to work with many licensed engineers whose project experience and knowledge was invaluable. Their guidance helped me progress to a place where I feel like I am equipped to develop solutions for any project I encounter. McGill also has allowed me to work in two different offices, which has really opened my eyes to how diverse our services are and how we can accommodate nearly any project. It’s truly remarkable the amount of experience and the scope of experiences that we have at McGill. As an engineer who’s growing in my career, McGill is quite a valuable place to work!”
